26 Car Union Pacific Train Derailment, Wrightsville, AR: May 2007 At 0145, 05 May 2007, the PCHMRT responded to a train derailment in southern Pulaski County. Upon arrival Team members discovered 26 cars, including 5 tank cars that had derailed. 2 of the 5 tank cars were carrying HAZMAT loads, one carrying UN2022, Cresylic Acid and the other UN3257, Elevated Temperature Liquid. The other tank cars were loaded with latex or were empty. Several of the box cars involved were carrying 1500 lbs rolls of paper. Wrightsville Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted with plugging the leak on the Cresylic Acid Car. Hazmat Team members remained on scene for over 10 hours. Union Pacific personnel remained on scene clearing and repairing the damaged track. |

40,000 gallon Tank Car containing UN2022, Cresylic Acid. The car was leaking and had rolled approximately 60 feet down an embankment and into a water filled ditch. Hazmat Team members and UP personnel spent several hours patching the leak. Extrication equipment (Spreaders) had to be used to gain access to the damaged valves. |

On August 1, 2008, the Jacksonville Fire Department requested the Pulaski County Hazmat Team to respond for a 1000 gallon tank of Anhydrous Ammonia that was leaking. The Team responded to Jacksonville and worked with the spiller and Jacksonville’s emergency responders to render safe the scene. |
