2008 Disasters

2008 was a busy year for emergency management.  Pulaski County was struck by two tornadoes in April and May.  One fatality resulted from the May tornado.   Hurricanes soon followed with Gustav sending thousands of evacuees into Arkansas resulting in sheltering operations and turbulent  weather.  Flooding occurred in Pulaski County because of the heavy rains and high winds that followed led to power outages statewide.  Hurricane Ike followed almost immediately causing more evacuations and weather that spawned several tornadoes.
